strategic project participation
We created this service to bring our experience and expertise as Landscape Architects into the early stages of projects, where our ideas and creativity can offer valuable perspectives and reveal design opportunities. This can help projects blend more seamlessly into the environment, conserve resources, and offer clear direction for future design development.
This Strategic Project Participation is provided on a consulting basis--hourly or a not-to-exceed agreement--which allows the Client flexibility to bring the landscape architecture perspective into the early stages of the project on a strategic basis where it’s needed, and have a real impact. Later in the project development process, when the overall scope of landscape architecture is clear, an overall proposal of services can be prepared, while the benefit of early participation is already a part of the project.
Whether it’s involvement in early conceptual design, remote or in-person participation in project reviews and workshops, developing site analysis or open space master planning from a landscape architecture perspective, or establishing design guidelines that will help direct the overall development for years to come--Strategic Project Participation helps to inform and enrich the planning and design process.
Let’s talk more about your projects.

For complex projects we can work with Engineers and Architects in modeling programs (here, Revit) to create the initial space-making...

...and then refine the design by hand and digitally, based on input from the design teams and Client.

Detailed graphics and sections help communicate the design and tell a story.

Initial sketches of the design process - showing site context, flow, programming, and input from user groups.

Idea refinement: combining all the notes and comments and inspiration into a finalized plan.

Sections to quickly communicate design ideas and relationships between spaces.

Satellite and drone footage reveal varied topography and help guide design decisions...

Design refinement - can be communicated through hand graphics, digitally, a combination of the two...

...as an overlay to quickly communicate design options and ideas.

Initial survey plan noting existing forest and locations of giant specimen trees...

We were able to preserve much of the forest and all of the specimen trees, incorporating them into the final design.

Renderings reveal an already established tree canopy, as much of the existing forest was preserved. Paths wind throughout.

Beach club design - initial sketches are refined and digitized ...

...and added to the overall 3d model to help bring the spaces to life.

Renderings not only help communicate the design to the client and team, they help us further refine the design.

Site analysis utilizing drones - for large sites this offers a comprehensive view of the landscape and topography...

...revealing development and preservation opportunities that would otherwise be missed.

Overlay study that works with the land, preserving existing drainage and native landscape. Cactus and trees are carefully relocated and used within the project.

Masterplanning and placemaking booklets for visioning and guiding design development. These help communicate design inspiration, preserve open space, and opportunities to add in some fun.

Placemaking is more than just a list of things to add to a space. It's about making connections, building community, enriching lives.

Imagery helps to communicate visual narratives and establish a design language for each project. With masterplanning and placemaking we enjoy helping initial ideas evolve into to complete and refined designs.
